Just in time for Halloween new soundtrack music from John Carpenter. Yes THE John Carpenter of Halloween, Escape from New York , The Thing and so on.
He's composed his own music since the beginning of his career and his driving beat and creepy, repetitive arpeggios (is that redundant?) are his trademark but it's inarguable that his soundtracks ratchet all of his movies up a notch or two. In fact Halloween owes it's mere success to his soundtrack that he added after initial viewings were a failure.
His label has announced that a number of soundtracks for movies never made will be released in 2015. But for now we have this wonderful track called Vortex from SoundCloud. Try hard to NOT imagine Snake Plisken stalking thru some apocalyptic scene ready to lay waste the bad guys/things. This is music with ATTITUDE .

Big Trouble in Little China is also noteworthy as a pretty entertaining Saturday afternoon movie.
They Live! too, if merely for some of modern pop culture things that reference it and the bubblegum line.

I haven't yet watched a bad Carpenter film.
